Welcome our new principal, Cecile LaMar!
August 18, 2020
Dear Parents and Community,
Greetings and welcome to the 2020-21 School Year!
I am so excited that we have begun instruction and that students are in their seats. It has been a marathon to prepare for the school year and put in place all the procedures and protocols to ensure our students and staff are safe and healthy at school. I wish to thank the faculty and staff of North for their dedication and efforts over these past few weeks.
As your new school principal, I would like to tell you a bit about myself. I am happy to say that I am a proud West Valley Eagle, having been a part of the first class to complete all four years on that campus. I am returning to Shasta County after spending 7 years teaching and over 10 years serving as a school administrator in Hawaii. It was my strong desire to return home to serve the students of this community and it has been wonderful to be home.
What I have learned since my arrival is that Cottonwood is still much the same as I remember it, a small, close knit community with wonderful children and supportive parents. Additionally, I have been impressed with the quality of our teachers and staff here at North and how much they care about the students and this community.
Finally, I want to share that although the realities of the pandemic make it difficult for face-to-face contact, I am always willing to speak with parents to address concerns or questions, or even just to say hello. So, do not hesitate to give me a call at the school office. If I am away from my desk, I will get back to you as soon as possible. As a school we are looking at and considering ways to meet with our parents and stay in compliance with social distancing requirements. Please look forward to forthcoming information on this topic. Thank you for your patience.
